The Health and Emotional wellness of black women is a key organizing principle of iask, Inc. Black women get Breast Cancer at disproportionately higher rates than do all women, and when we are diagnosed with the disease we are more likely to die from it than are other women. The most alarming threat to the life of black women is the newer strain of Breast Cancer called “Triple Negative Breast Cancer” . This is personal to us as we lost our beloved sister Francene Robinson to the disease on June 5, 2009 1 day before our team was to walk in her honor on June 6, 2009 in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Our job at iask is to get you to the experts and make sure you have the proper information you need to take care of yourself for life. Our Physical health is only one aspect of our wellness. It is a fact that black women, particularly accomplished black women suffer from depression at alarming rates. Our goal is to talk about these issues in the open and move women toward a place of healing that is why we have partnered with some of the most important health & wellness organizations for women in America:
Susan G. Komen “Circle of Promise” Black Women’s Health Study Boston University Awakenings 360 Black Women’s Health Imperative Heart & Style National Black Women’s Town Hall Author Terrie Williams & The Healing Starts With Us Campaign the Black Greek Lettered Organizations Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation Coalition of 100 Black Women and many more.
